RECORDS FALL AS THE PLAYOFF PICTURE BECOMES MORE CLEAR

The difficulty with being undefeated is your team gets too confident and often doesn’t know what to do in adverse conditions.  When SOCOM lost a week ago to Unc and the Goon Squad, the perfect season may have ended but the championship run may have begun.

Since the 46 – 40 loss, SOCOM has averaged 77 points a game and on Saturday they broke the long standing single game scoring record for a team by putting up 92 points and wiping out Jim Ihasz Panther’s single game record of 91 points recorded 9 years ago this week.

In the same game, grant Hinton put up 48 points and made nine 3 point shots to tie Nick Duvall’s 48 in 2023 and George Cancro’s nine 3 pointers in 2019 Making the 3:00 hour at Saint Stephens the most historic in our 30 year history.

SOCOM appears to be poised to beat the tar out of anyone they play so a warning to anybody who draws the first seed in the tournament, you better bring your A game on defense and have a lights out shooting night.   The pink team shouldn’t have pissed them off.

A quick announcement on the playoff games:  the final playoff seeds for the playing games will not be decided until end of night Thursday and posted before midnight.  The final Sweet 16 pairings will not be decided until after the 6:00 game on Friday before the play in games.  Everything will be posted on the website as soon as possible.

That being said, we do have three other teams that are playing some of their best basketball of the year. Bufano has won six games in a row, the Skid Marks have won five games in a row and Thomas has won four games in a row going into week 17.

For our first time ever, out of 18 teams, half of them are within a game of .500.  The teams with the worst records have impressive wins and anybody could win this championship.

Please note that there were some major schedule changes due because I did not anticipate the Ash Wednesday holiday and had to reschedule all of Wednesday’s games.  The changes are readily available on the website.

This is everyone’s tournament.  Now the fun really begins.
